 Morocco occupies a surface area of 446,550 km2 on the north west edge of the African continent. Morocco is bordered to the West by the Atlantic Ocean and to the North by the Mediterranean Sea. In the East and in the Southeast is the Algerian border with the Moroccan Sahara lying to the south of the country. Morocco includes four broad types of zone with their different geographies : - The Rif Mountains in the North;
- The Atlas Mountains between the Atlantic Ocean and the Rif (with the summit of Jebel Toubkal being 4,165m),
- The big Atlantic and Mediterranean coastal plains (where most Moroccan’s live);
- The lowlands to the South which gradually grade into the Sahara.
