A day at the seaside (or longer, if wished) is always fun. It is an opportunity to enjoy sea breezes and coolertemperatures, a welcome relief from the heat of the interior of Morocco.

Essaouira is a coastal resort about 3½ hours drive from Marrakech. It is a delightful place in which to stroll and to relax. Essaouira is a very active fishing port with large landings each day. Indeed, an added pleasure to your visit here can be to eat at a fish restaurant overlooking the colour and activities of the harbour.

The old town is a delight as well. Narrow streets wind almost endlessly, offering a chance to stroll and to “lose yourself” in its old world charm. Blue and white are the traditional colours here, so reflective of its coastal location. To then take a walk along the coastal ramparts, high above the rocky coastline, offers a very special feeling of freedom and joy.

The beach is extensive. It is ideal for both passive and active activities. A stroll along the modern and wide promenade is most pleasant; a walk on the beach with a paddle in the lapping water is so refreshing. But if you wish to engage in more active pursuits then there is a wide range from which to choose e.g. Windsurfing
